Christ's Embassy, formally Wicket Gate Ministries, is a multi-faceted ministry located in Peoria, Il. It has been operating in a number of capacities since it's founding in 1992. Under the original name, Wicket Gate, the ministry began as a counter-cult and evangilism ministry in Charleston, SC. Under the direction of the Lord, the headquarters moved to Peoria, IL in the summer of 1993 and has been there ever since. It has been through many changes over the years as the Lord opened and closed different doors of ministry. A high point was sponsoring a multichurch worship service in a unique and historical venue just outside of Peoria. After the latter event, WGM went to the back burner with an uncertain future. Most of the team felt lead to other commitments and the director took a spiritual sabatical from active ministry. Coming out of that period, a new vision and role for Wicket Gate developed. The ministry would be multimedia based ministry helping to equip and inform the Body of Christ along with local outreach efforts, such as the recently added Adopt-A-Mom. The first step in the new direction was the addition of a daily podcast. Starting in July of 2008, the show was a pot pouri of social and political commentary, local ministry features, and basic Bible teaching. In February of 2009, the show was relaunched as Foundational Truth, an online audio magazine. With the Lord's help, the audience has been growing. Topics and format varied. In February this year, we felt lead to change the name to Christ's Embassy, in part because it reflects the ministry's intent to represent Christ in the community. As a part of the growing change, Foundational Truth was renamed Foundations with a reduced emphasis on political issues and a greater number of guests. In November, 2009, Adopt-A-Mom was launched as a ministry to poor women in risk of an abortion. These young women are shown the real love of Jesus while working to meet their needs. It's a new take on ProLife ministry to give the mothers a real chance to be loved. Check back soon for more information. In March '10, Holy Fire Internet Radio will officially launch. It's is an entirely internet based "radio" station playing the best in local and unsigned artists as well as the best in Christian music not heard anywhere else in Peoria. We want to give these talented musicians a place to share what the Lord has given them. For more or to listen, visit the Holy Fire homepage. The central theme of unity based upon our common faith in Jesus will be more prevalent as well. Please take a few minutes and read "United in Purpose" on this site. Blessings, Pstr. Mike |
